@dotan (Subjective NYCs founder) got into digital art by accident in 2019 because of his exploration with projection mapping. This is the story of the first digital art show at LUME Studios and it all started with @zachlieberman ! 👇

He had just finished installing our 360 immersive projection system 3 months before. Originally, the goal was to turn LUME Studios into an audiovisual movie theater, where we could display a variety of artists and live music on a rotating basis while hosting discussions and experiences for artists to network.

At the time he was obsessed with @zachlieberman 's daily outputs on Instagram. Zach Lieberman uses code to create vibrant and exciting outputs of light, color, form, and movement. Dotan didnt realize that Zach is actually a pioneer in his work and instrumental in the development of openFrameworks, an open source c++ framework for creative coding. Dotan loved his visuals so he reached out to see if he was open to sharing his work and talking about his process. Luckily he said yes and we scheduled a date to do the show.

The day of the event we programmed all the work onto the walls and they looked visually stunning in large scale. Over 250 people showed up and the place was packed! It was awesome to learn about the journey that Zach has been on and see someone who has been so dedicated to his craft. This man is a true wizard of digital art and i have so much respect for him.

Its been a blessing to have experiences like this and that @zachlieberman was open to trying this with us. It taught me so much about working with artists to bring their vision to life. Since then we have gone on to host over 100 art shows, screenings, and community experiences. They really are my favorite things to do at LUME studios! Huge gratitude to all of you who have attended our events and supported us. We hope to see you again soon!
