I grew up in a very artistic family, one of my close relatives was the author "Ken Kesey". If you don't know who he is, he wrote "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" along with a number of other great lesser known books- but on top of that was a influential figure in the Beat/counter culture movement of the 70s. He was a magician, a novelist, a farmer and a complex character who embodied his movement of "Merry Pranksters". In an interview many years ago I was called the last of the Merry Pranksters, I guess maybe I've always carried some of that spirit of performance, magic and playfulness through my whole life. Where I grew up I never told people I was related to him because of the attachment to his persona being so magnetic here in Oregon. Now as a middle aged adult I recognize how his influence shaped my life artistically and am more open about it..........

He bought me my first guitar and also taught me how to play chess as a teenager, its evident throughout my personal expression and interest now. Collaging and crafting was always something going on at his farm in the rural countryside- where kids would gather and be watched by him and his wife, they had a real love for children. I'm staying at family property frozen in time, the many vestiges of his legacy left in varying degrees of an untouched state since his death in 2021. Many more items packed up and stored away like his instruments, hat collection and costume pieces. Here's a few pictures from the farm, probably not many people would ever get to see a glimpse into his life like this. Something he always said that stuck with me, "Sparks Fly Upward" I try to keep these words in mind whenever things are tough. So that's a little bit about me and where I come from, thanks if you've read through this and for being in this space with me these last years. We all have our stories to tell here..........
