never realized how much I suck at running fast, can barely run faster than 5K pace (legs just can’t move faster/push harder) maybe should shift focus to getting faster instead of building more cardio/base

hmm in workouts I try 3:15-3:20/km cause PB is 16:36 on a treadmill / 17:31 on road on a split

Smoking. Thanks for sharing Haven't seen those times in 15+ years but was tickled to get to low 5s for a mile. Excited to build the stamina back up.

heh… yeah on the track I basically couldn’t go faster than 3:10, even on 400s (and especially on the later ones) even tho I could probably have done like 2 miles at slightly slower pace; felt extremely limited by leg strength :P

That's wild. I can hit way faster on a 400 (~2:30/km) but would be jazzed to do sub-19 5k nowadays. Didn't train speed, the speed just seems to have mostly stayed whereas the stamina has gone away with years of no real training.
