This week I write about a mobile Farcaster client for the /rhizome that @grit and I worked on and never really got it polished like we wanted to due to life reasons. So we shipped it anyways and made it open source. Android is live (link in article), iOS still going back and forth on approval.

The New Farcaster CMO Means We've Got To Step Up (my /firstdraft )

First, s/o @dwr.eth for the new outreach & marketing energy-it's infectious.  

But I wonder if you & I realize what this means for us? 

We need to step up.
 
If these efforts are successful, there will be many new people here who need help & encouragement. 

We need to:
* Answer more questions that seem like a waste of time
* Follow people who WILL clutter up our Home Feed
* Give an answer 12x that we've already given 6x
* Congratulate & encourage people about things trivial things
* Slow down & give clearer answers to questions 
* Use 15 words instead of an insider analogy or term

Makes me think of @ceej onboarding 15+ 'cool friends,' @ace DMing people about FC, @ted onboarding hundreds at a conference booth

That's now you & me. We need to help people on their journey.

A lot of talk about & calls for marketing. @dwr.eth stepped up. 

Will we step up? Or will we keep scrolling past people & posts that aren't helping us?

My post this weekend about Spam Labels kicked of some good discussion and a lot of questions. I expanded that cast into a long form article: The Unwritten Rules of Warpcast: Avoiding Spam Labels

This week I tried something new. 
Normally I write my /firstdraft in my journal & then copy it on Paragraph.
This time I typed my first draft on my mobile phone. A completely different quality.

It is much more structured and easier to copy.
But the text feels more mechanical. I've watched myself writing a sentence and then skip ahead because I had an idea of where the story was going in the text, which led to a gap that I needed to fill later. And I started to format it already, which distracted me from the a actual story.

Later I felt stuck. I didn't know what to write, how to continue. This took several days. Suddenly there was too much structure that was preventing me from writing.

Then I sat down with my diary on Sunday evening and wrote a new text with my pen. I'm happier with the result. It feels more flowy, even if it might not make full sense and is shorter. The phone was limiting my creativity, whereas writing by hand just lets it flow.

I was journaling earlier today and realized that I want to make an effort to "reclaim my attention."

There are some tactical tweaks I can make, such as cutting down on TikTok or YouTube (especially when multitasking). I want to meditate more and build up my muscles for attention regulation. I'm going to continue writing to process my thoughts instead of turning to ChatGPT for a quick suggestion.

But I also need to rethink how I explore ideas and information.  Warpcast has basically been my default online destination for two years, and while I’ve deeply enjoyed building a network here, this place is still fundamentally a short-form content platform, with a relatively narrow coverage of topics.

Going forward, I want to build a “T-shaped” information diet: optimized for breadth, with the ability to go deep when my curiosity is piqued. Right now, my information diet is more of a “u” shape, where I slip down into a domain without much precision.

This week I scripted a short youtube video, but what I felt while writing it seemed more relatable

Starting something new. It's something we all feel and experience in different ways. It always feels so hard to start. At least how I remember it. Until I unpack that feeling and realize it was all in my head.. we can just do things

It was like groundhog day playing the same scenario out over and over. Uncovering what I thought was struggle.. was all a ruse to cover all the ways I overthought it instead of doing it

You can just do things
It's liberating
It's permissionless

Writing with my son in mind this week. I think it's still too generic, so I'd like my next revision of it to be sharper. I'll also consider adding anecdotes to the extent they might be meaningful for him to read later.
