I just joined /firstdraft to support @markfishman & b/c of @ted prompt for this week. Thanks you two for supporting writers. 

A belief that changed and solidified this year is that decentralization in web3 does not mean we can't have leadership. Decentralization and leadership are not mutually exclusive. 

In much of web3 it appears that in a desire to be decentralized, there is an overreaction against leadership--of any kind. I understand the fear given where we are coming from regarding leadership that seeks its own wealth and benefit. But we can't let the pendulum swing too far to the other side. Organizations need direction and leadership. In web3 where we seek decentralization and its many benefits, we need leadership that serves the interests of others--not an easy thing to find or implement.

Marketing and sales aren’t evil or bad

It’s a thought that’s been propagandized to me and enhanced with experience over the years. I still catch myself coupling the idea of the snake oil with the salesman. My beliefs have changed as I decoupled those two ideas

Deconstructing it all, I was at war with mismanaged expectations and gimmicky attention tactics. Letting go puts me at ease.. to continue bullposting pho to my heart’s content

belief- i changed my mind about this yr- the arc of history bends towards justice (it doesn't)

why- having my sexual assault ignored by an event and ostracized for talking about it by a community really opened my eyes about the dynamics of power, they impact everyone, even ppl you consider friends and the world really does turn on enlightened self interest which is the nice way of saying fuck you got mine

how it has changed my perspective- i now view personal safety and agency as entirely fictional / abstract concepts, i knew before that women who do everything 'right' still get groped / raped but now i know from first hand experience that doing everything right means zero

if power decides you are disposable, or that people shouldn't give a fuck about you, that is exactly what will happen and the only 'agency' you will have is trying to recover from it

and it will be entirely the decision of the cruelty of chaos of life's currents whether you survive or not
