but one book really pissed me off and it resulted in these thoughts.

** Confessions Of A Leaderboard Junkie ** (my /firstdraft )

I'm Brad, & I'm addicted to the Rewards Leaderboard. (customary 'hii braaadd' welcome)

But it's not what you might think. Yes, I'm competitive. Yes, I like winning money. But my addiction stems from the stories the leaderboard tells. 

The leaderboard dramatically changed my FC experience from 3 casts/wk to 3-4 casts a day. FC has become a cozy corner & home. More than that, I have real (digital) friends--people I genuinely want to succeed & that I help & encourage.

Six months ago, I wouldn't have thought much about FarCon, but now I'm working on plans to attend, mostly prompted by this change in my FC experience.

It's not just me. Rewards helped @swampnet fund her unemployment. @chicbangs.eth paid her health insurance. Others paid FarCon fees. 

What other stories are out there?

So, yes, I'm addicted to the Leaderboard--not clicking for results--but b/c it's changing social media. s/o @dwr.eth & @v for the algo & idea that make it possible.

The last couple of weeks I was mostly occupied with work, household things & relationships, neglecting my body, mind & soul. I am not feeling aligned with myself anymore & I feel that this is the reason why I recently struggle with my creativity. I see myself again in an old pattern of mine in which I don't take enough time & space to write. The quality of the writings decreases, my motivation fades and It becomes more a feeling of I have to finish rather than fun. That's why this week's story is unfinished. Part of me feels not good enough because of that and is craving perfection, another part is accepting it & feels at ease.

As bodhilama is taking vacation, so do I, by going for a 10 day Vipassana course to get distance from everything and regain focus. I am looking forward to this time, as on my last Vipassana, one year ago, I had the idea of bodhilama and I remember how creativity was flowing out of my soul like an infinite well.

Spam Labels have been public for a month and we've seen significant updates to the number of casters with Level 2 Labels (the good one) and the consequences of the Level 0 Label (the worst one) via the Great Follower Purge of February 2025. 

With a resurgence of bot-like accounts this weekend, the algorithm will only get more aggressive. 

I've made significant revisions on this article as the team has given us more clarity around the algorithm as well as included resources on how to save your friends from spam jail and a thread on the teams thinking about spam. 

Please remember this is guidance, not gospel. The algo is secret.  Always appreciate any feedback or areas I can clarify.

Agents are reflecting and learning

Feels just like yesterday that OpenAI launched o1 to crickets.. only to be out-headlined by DeepSeek and their new reasoning model. I think it's easy for us to dismiss what reasoning models are capable of.. "just prompt it a little different". We still compare them against their language model brethren. They're different

Dig into the training method and you realize company after company hit ceilings on their ability to throw parameters and more data to infinitely get their models.. smarter..

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm less impressed the by the models and their ability to sound vaguely human, but really impressed by their ability to understand us and what we say. Now they can see and hear. But now.. they're reflecting (?)

Next frontier that we're just getting a glimpse into is having our agents be able to think ahead and learn from past mistakes. We saw the primitives of it with Yohei Nakajima trying to push the boundaries of the Pippin framework..

i spent most of my weekend building a warpcast frame (to be shared soon). i decided to share some of my experiences and things i learned along the way. 

* i deployed my first contract on base mainnet and was surprised that it cost me almost nothing. wow!

* i built most of the frame functionality with the help of cursor composer. it’s really amazing. the `restore` feature is underrated.

* i realized that creating a ui without mocks is really difficult for me, and honestly, i just don’t like css. ahhh!

* the warpcast official frame v2 tutorials are excellent. i was able to get started building the frame quickly.

* wallet integration in warpcast is a huge unlock. it completely removes the friction of switching back and forth between warpcast and the wallet. it’s so easy to execute a transaction from within the app. i love it!

honestly the frame is a pretty simple one, but i had loads of fun making it. i can’t wait to share with you all. i just have to fix one bug lol

I don’t care about agency. Or, more accurately: I think agency is merely a means to an end.

I generally applaud the idea that people can and should take action in their lives. I want people to be empowered and opportunity to be distributed. I think we should design our tools and environments to enhance individual and collective agency.

However, agency as a concept feels dangerously void without a guiding purpose. As @jihad recently challenged us, “What are we actually working toward? What values drive our work? What kind of world are we trying to create?” (link to his essay below)

I’ve been thinking a lot about what my guiding purpose is. Right now, I think the answer is *flourishing*. I want humans to feel healthy, happy, and connected. I want to design things that help people find their own purpose, as well as the people and places that help them become the best versions of themselves.

Flourishing is still a broad concept, but it's at least a start in the right direction.
