I’ve loved the Dune movies, but they really tone down the philosophy and leadership wisdom that Frank Herbert expertly wove into the books. They make me want to be a better leader, and a better person.

Agree, but I think it's just different media. The first Dune audiobook lasts ~20 hours. A film needs to tell the story a different way. Imagine if in the middle of a movie you have a 5' scene in which characters start having a deep discussion about ecology. Wouldn't work!
