A slide deck is an info-delivery ratchet. It does not allow the listener to process at their own tempo. Less obviously, it does not allow the speaker to process at their own tempo. With a whiteboard or other more improvised medium there is a possibility of speaker and listener coming into sync through the talk and mutual impedance matching. A slide-deck precludes, or at least constrains that possibility. To really deliver a talk capable of creating attunement with slides, you have to rehearse a lot, which limits improvisation (unless the rehearsals are in the form of improving repeat performances)

Slides hinder speaker and listener sync. Whiteboards allow for mutual impedance matching. Improvisation limited by slide reliance
