The quirky World project, formerly known as Worldcoin, has announced that it has verified the identities of more than 10 million users worldwide. The project, backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, will use blockchain and eye scans to authenticate users in 2023.

A post on World’s official X social network page said that 10 million users have been verified. The company uses special orbs to scan users’ eyes to verify their identity. World says the method, called “human proof,” will help systems distinguish humans from robots as AI rapidly develops.

It’s an interesting idea.
