However, 31% have delayed their timelines, and 15% are now less inclined to proceed—up from zero in 2022. Public protests have centered on one of Trump’s key criticisms—denied by central bankers—that CBDCs could enable government surveillance. “There is a clear hesitancy around the subject,” notes the OMFIF report, highlighting that few central banks have committed to issuing a CBDC despite years of research.

Sahara AI announced that it will launch the second phase of the data platform beta version test, and by January 21, 2025, it has attracted more than 1.9 million users to sign up. Previously, Sahara AI launched the first stage of beta testing on December 18, 2024, attracting more than 780,000 users to sign up, and ultimately more than 10,000 people successfully participated. The NFT series, backed by US President-elect Donald Trump, has launched its first 160 works on the Bitcoin network by using the Ordinals protocol, called“Trump Bitcoin Digital Trading Cards”。Users who receive 100 NFT cards from the Mugshot Edition are eligible to claim them through the NFT marketplace Magic Eden after submitting their bitcoin wallets. As of press time, users have cast 19 of the 119 available Ordinals, and the claim period will run until January 31.

Metaplanet currently holds 1,762 bitcoins. The company plans to use a variety of ways, including loans, equity and convertible bonds, to increase its bitcoin holdings in 2025 and beyond.
