Topic of the day: botanical sexism. Yes, gender discrimination has penetrated into the lives of not only people, but also trees. The term was coined by American horticulturist and author of books about plants Tom Ogren. According to his theory, during the period of active urban greening, specialists preferred male trees, while female individuals were considered unsuitable for mass planting, since they would litter the urban landscape with flowers, seeds and fruits. The problem was revealed later: the gender-unbalanced streets really looked neat and free of botanical debris, but the lone male trees released a huge amount of pollen that did not reach the final goal — the result was a pollen and, as a result, an allergic apocalypse. Ogren's theory has been criticized by the scientific community more than once, but who cares when there is such a naming. So, dear allergy sufferers, there is nowhere without women, even in the matter of red eyes and swollen noses, the eternal male/female is probably buried.
