“The existence and nature of transpersonal experiences... imply such seemly absurd notions as ... nonlocal connections in the universe; communication through unknown means and channels; memory without a material substrate; nonlinearity of time; or consciousness associated with all living organisms (including lower animals, plants, unicellular organisms and viruses) and even inorganic matter.’”

But in biocosmism, even the earth is not equal to itself—it stirs and vulcanates.

Hot take (in the current atmosphere): Marilyn Waring’s 1988 work of feminist economics, If Women Counted, could be among the most consequential texts for the future of crypto. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_Women_Counted

I am against any sort of essentializing or fetishizing, but what we call “nature” (what Aella is describing) is universal, an expression of cosmic laws - thermodynamics, vividly articulated. A CVS or a public school are to an equal extent, except that they tend to conceal and displace the pressure points where they reflect those laws. Natural systems and institutional systems are both often cruel, but when displaced or concealed, we enter into a form of “idiot cruelty” you don’t see in nature. I think some standards can be held up against nature and “kept honest” to reach a happy middle - but this is a much more intense process than people give credit. Human organisms require submission of the agency of many different organisms to function. This is a deep rabbit hole that makes the nature/human distinction meaningless IMO. Check the section in this essay titled “What Does It Feel Like to Be a Pancreas”: https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/psychology/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2019.02688/full

“Embodiment is not just movement in 3D space. Many hold that software agents differ from real organisms because they are not embodied in a real world. But biology operates in many spaces, exhibiting problem-solving behavior in metabolic, physiological, transcriptional, and anatomical state spaces. This means that even agents that do not have an obvious motile body might be executing critical perception-action loops in some other space that is hard for us to measure or even imagine.”

“That said, one can, to a limited extent, steer through what could be called mindspace, or a figurative n-dimensional field of the various states the human mind may occupy, with actual minds being vector-like instances, or actualizations of certain coordinate paths. I’ve done it myself, albeit in a manner only slightly dictated by my will.” First of all: insane piece of writing. Makes me appreciate you even more than I already do. We need to talk more about it - although the heroic hazarding of dangerous states of mind is a classic trope of magical literature (Castaneda, Crowley, Spare), I do think the dream of the antipsychiatrists (Guattari, Laing.. John Cage?) was to forge a social path that way. I also think all these “potential minds” - though they may seem to describe something abstract, platonic for Levin - are actually just different edges drawn on a graph of the availably real. Psychonautics is really just network alchemy.

I’ve long thought of Ethereum as uniquely adequate to a process philosophy (Whitehead, Deleuze), often portrayed as “exiting the dialectic” thru a logic of inversion. This usually means paying attention to what “ideology of substance” a given system is pedaling and positing entity-as-relational-nexus in its place. Transcends either/or by getting beneath the axioms & finding generative stuff there. I wrote about something along these lines in my *Ethereum is Posthuman* post! 👽 https://warpcast.com/exeunt/0x6be4f02d

hot take: due diligence > impact metrics grant giving orgs need to spend resources to send experts out to check on projects. do they have what they need to succeed? are they doing what they said they were going to do? if not, do they have a good reason why? can we provide any other meaningful support?
