Ethereum is an open protocol - extitutional by nature. That means its assets are permissionless & freely circulated, and kept open by a culture of free improvisation and empirical imagination. Open protocols use pseudo-institutional forms called extitutions to help protect & maintain them. Think of these as temporary storefronts that formalize the open dimensions of the protocol. Orange County’s Brotherhood of Eternal Love (who formalized the open dimensions of the LSD scene) is a great example of an extitution. @ethereumfndn is another great example. Extitutions scale horizontally, not vertically (for the below reasons). Anything less is counterproductive. ETHDenver is just another institution. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The promise of crypto is the ability to establish your own resource environment rather than buying into the compromised values of a prefab one. Instead of fuck you money it enables fuck you community: real autonomy/mutual sovereignty. For now that leverage is being constantly underestimated.. I don’t believe that will continue. People will selfishly discover and inhabit the available mechanisms to sustain themselves. Some of those people will have the most selfish goal of all: *wanting to create free and beautiful things without being bothered.*
