I was there for v1 and v2 -- was not in love with either. It's funny because it was/is a very design thinking org, for example, it was considered important to get the distance between text and link underlining exactly correct. My take: TikTok isn’t free from CCP influence. It is 100 percent algorithmic. So yes the US should adopt better data protection laws but the attack vector I’d be concerned about would something like China invades Taiwan and scrubs TikTok of Taiwan advocates and pushes all China POV on 150M Americans

USA has killed who knows how many innocent people. War is its default stance since 1941. Democracy’s saving grace despite all of its many faults is the chance to replace people in power without violence. That’s it. No guarantee of better use of power, just peaceful transfer.
