When I used to be in school and working on a project with a due date, I used to allot 1-2 days extra “in case shit happens” Usually shit does happen and you may not feel like working Don’t know why I stopped doing this when it comes to work

On a marketing team it’s pretty much a given that you have to work like that. I usually add an extra day or two for every person in the chain of tasks. Marketing teams are very highly collaborative so a lot of people are involved in one project + when you talk to press you also need things like blackout periods

That’s probably the main reason why I still work like this but I think this really depends on your work and whether it warrants all this extra “shit happens” time. When I ran a startup everything needed to be done yesterday and there was not time 😭
