The way things are is usually to get fast proving times you have to make verification slower and vice versa.

It appears to be a fundamental trade off at some point. There are things like p-lookup which go against this.

What’s the main benefits/drawbacks of improving one vs the other ?

From my experience verifying is far far faster than proof generation and should be prioritized.
