I met a certified great founder in the CSX cohort, @hrojantorsw of Anera Labs. Had the pleasure of listening in on him guiding a younger founder, and I learned a lot. He built a micro-lending company in India. Had an offer from a famous VC which he turned down because it would force more predatory lending. 🫡

If you were allowed to ask him a question what question would it be?

hmmm @hrojantorsw let’s say you were a investor, and the decision for a deal came down to evaluating the founder, what questions would you ask to make sure they’re ready? I find this framing is better than asking what makes a great founder

Hmmm this is a really cool question. Of all the investments I have made, venture is my least favourite one 😂 But I will try. The main thing I look for is the itch. Does the founder feel like they’re restless if they don’t at least give this a shot? Is it a violent obsession? Are they going to do this with or without me? Do I think they will keep tinkering aggressively with or without capital? Even if the premise/idea would not be my favourite, indefatigable founders tend to find a way.
