Metaplanet, often called "Asia's MicroStrategy," holds 1,762 BTC ($165M) as part of its strategy to counter yen volatility and rising debt. The company posted its best financial performance since 2017, with shares surging 1,900% in 2024. Gerovich views 2024 as a turning point for Bitcoin adoption globally. Trump’s pro-crypto agenda, including appointing crypto-friendly officials and vowing U.S. leadership in the industry, has bolstered community hopes. Trump emphasized that the U.S. must lead crypto innovation to outpace competitors like China.
