Is there a term for replying in the moment and then spending a few days working out the thoughtful, fluent version of what that reply could have been (but also being keenly aware that a quick reply is better than a fluent reply days later)?

We sometimes use this expression in French, so I was looking for the equivalent in English and it was the expression itself haha!
