Of the 18 or so people at Merkle, I think I know where 3/18 went to college.

College is helpful for career if:

1. You major in something with hard skills
2. In the US, you got to a school that gives you an initial professional network

But after your first or second job, most places just care about what you've done at the previous job (or built on your own).

I don't know where folks at Merkle went to college but I do recall where several coworkers at Google went to college and which degree they obtained. It kinda made me feel out of place but it also felt good that I was working at the same level (or above) Ivy League PhDs when I just got a BS from a university in Mexico.
It doesn't really matter.
