Reposting from /healthcare, but would love this channel’s thoughts! Is the reason we see less women engaging in strength training due to stigma of “muscles” on women, lack of childhood encouragement, or something else? Clearly women benefit greatly, but statistically, women are less likely to train strength

Interesting, I think the stigma of having muscles as a woman is mostly gone in the west at least. I think the main reason men workout more doing weights is because there is still societal pressures on men being strong and having muscles.

Women *tend* to opt for cardio or low impact workouts like yoga/pilates instead. Personally I love a good strength training session with compound movements etc but always surprised to see so few other women doing such excercise at my gym

+1. Should we drop the alpha to the ladies on the treadmills? Hybrid is where it's at in my mind. Always recommend some pelvic floor work as a complement to strength training.
