thanks kristin! this was on the streets of catania! wow, how long did u play violin? mesmerized by it every time i hear it no musical instruments for me rn, i played piano growing up tho!

I played about 10 years (as an adult). I also played the cello for about 5 months. Now I play the ukulele and also a bowed dulcimer that is a vertifal bowed instrument and is tuned like a viola. It looks like this. I also tried a treble viola da gamba for a half a year. I can't play a violin under the chin now as it bothers my neck too much.

I learned to play in a decent way in one year. I had a friend who taught me who's a professional violinist. She's the fiddle player in Elephant Revival (and I live in her house right now). We met in 2009 and we did a trade where I taught her aerial silks and she taught me violin. I played every day for that year though, to get good enough so it wasn't totally awful. After that I moved to Canada and I didn't have her with me as my teacher and I didn't make as much progress and didn't play as much after that. Ongoing neck issues from a previous injury made me stop and seek to play a vertical instrument.
