Trying to gauge where people are at with two questions: 1) Have you heard of the term “personal knowledge management”? 2) What software do you use for taking notes?

i have heard of it, but never have found a good way to organize it i do think curation has never been more important, what each of us intake feels like it's widening - rlly been the trend ever since the downfall of everyone watching the same 5 o clock news

Yeah that’s fair, it’s something a lot of people struggle with. Too many options. Too many organization systems. My best way, by far, has been in Obsidian, because organization can emerge on its own 👀 made a quick video about why I switched to obsidian, you might find it interesting: Why Obsidian? That’s why, imo, it’s so incredible important to have an information filtering system (identify the signal) and a knowledge building system (attributing credit to sources + adding your own perspective). To me, pkm is about both

just watched! u are great at explaining these concepts in a simple way qq, just realized my “memory” has been tied to gpt for a bit now as i use it as a thought partner and to dump random thoughts, do u think that can be imported via api?

Cool! Thanks for the feedback 😊 appreciate it. Yes! Looks like there’s a plugin that will do it based on the exported ChatGPT zip file? With plugins in obsidian, anything is possible really. My suggestion tho would be to keep your ai outputs in a separate folder, just so you can clearly know what is your original thinking vs what has been generated. Could also use a tag. https://forum.obsidian.md/t/plugin-nexus-ai-chat-importer-import-chatgpt-conversations-to-your-vault/71664
