If you: 1. Like crypto 2. Are mad that there are a lot of coins I’d highly recommend Bitcoin maximalism. Otherwise: tokenize everything. There is no inbetween.

i like crypto, and i like that there are a lot of coins, the more the better and i also hope that onchain art isn’t fractionalized coins at the beginning, these aren’t mutually exclusive imo do i think the creator should have say in how their art is distributed? hell yeah ado i think that the creator should capture 99% of the value of their art? hell yeah i respect and appreciate u guys pushing the space forward, just wanted to give some thoughts as someone who is active both in creating and collecting - i’m finding it hard to buy in to the current model, and i may change my mind over time but that’s just how i feel today

Yeah agreed. I understand the theory and the system, but not how it is actually sustainable for creators What do you envision enables a creator to capture 99% of the value?

i think the distribution needs to be open, fc preferred as of now given that it’s platform agnostic the backend should simplify w time, but where do the creators feel most valued + incentivized and collectors have wide access - these are what will drive the best distribution source long term imo

i think the backend has been as simplified as it can be now though? E.g., anyone can launch any token with any amount and distribution. I think we're less in a backend building era and more in an incentive building era. How can we actually incentivize a digital economy that is not 100% speculative, since artists inherently shy away from that type of behaviour?

in terms of backend, mostly thinking contracts that allow artists to have more value capture i.e. it’s still difficult for an artist to launch their own custom nft, take 99% of the value that comes from the sales, and distribute it on fc and it’s not even a shot at current distribution platforms, i think diversity is important and overall i think the ones that exist today are very net positive for the space - thoughts above come from a place of hoping artists do get more choice eventually and more value accrual

I think actually it’s easy to launch a custom nft contract with 99% value capture (eg manifold), the issue is in the culture of collecting now. By shifting to the “free mint meta”, collectors have begun to expect almost free mints, that contribute value via protocol, that gives 50% to the platform and 50% ish to the artist. So I think it’s less about a contract level issue, and more about a platform level issue and the “protocols” that have been employed. We’ve shifted to a trading mindset, with fee split on transaction, rather than a collecting mindset for long term value. Not disagreeing with you at all, but I think it’s a deeper issue than problems with the contracts, because those have been able to be sovereign for a long time
