The most interesting thing I was hoping to learn this week was how @nic reclaimed his @farcaster account from a tech perspective? Recovering from @warpcast makes more sense because it's less decentralized. However, @farcaster you can't edit account owners...? 👀🟣

Was hoping for more on this too but from what I understand fid’s can set a recovery address which Warpcast sets to one of their addresses by default h/t @laurashin for a great podcast on farcaster https://warpcast.com/unchainedcrypto/0x31e9d88b

If you go to settings > advanced on warpcast you should be able to change that recovery address to one you control if you want

Interesting. Is the theory that @nic set his recovery address when he signed up and forgot about it? Then figured out he had a recovery address and used that to regain access last week.

More that warpcast set a recovery address for him when he signed up. By default it’s an address that wc controls (if you sign up for farcaster through wc). Let’s them do web2 style recovery for situations like this & from what I understand @dwr.eth does them manually which tracks with the benevolent dictator part

You're correct! Anyone can go into the settings to set their recovery account away from @warpcast if they want. This is a great use case to set your recovery to a @safe account if the Safe is setup with proper security and recovery on its own.
