the ai crypto landscape currently is disappointing to see for me

all slop tbh. maybe 0.01% are not. but even then in the face of what real AI twitter has been cooking up, it's really not even close. we are basically producing no effort 10 line system prompt GPT wrappers and making them token mascots to gamble on

reality is there are not enough good builders. i hope ai16z's community focused approach does something about this, but after observing the AI protocols from last year and what they have achieved since, i still remain lukewarm

it's jarring for me to switch from the ai/yc twitter to crypto ai twitter just seeing the difference in progress. embarrassing even. there are lots of interesting ideas to be discovered i feel like, but why do that when you can make millions, completrly liquid, in a few months?

the ai agent coins are not supposed to be ai. they are token mascots. they are the new nfts. instead of picking from one collection based on traits, you buy shares in the collection itself. the finetune = the art

they don't have to be good or useful. they just need to hit

zerebro, fartcoin are basically live nfts

aixbt and the trading ones less so..not sure how to classify

They’re advanced meme assets, it’s not necessarily about the tech itself but how good the tech is at generating attention

I think fartcoin is a bit more of a “pure” meme (in the nft parallel would be like punks or art collections) and zerebro, aixbt etc are more around execution (something like bayc)

zerebro path to attention is creative stuff, aixbt is asset commentary, the trading ones are trading. but all still lead back to attention

and then ai16z, virtual, are like picks and shovels plays as you describe

why do you think the hype ai projects from a year ago haven't seen any of this hype?

IMO these are better at cultivating attention and they fit better into the current crypto meta (literal pumpfun memecoins, fair entry, more CT-native)

Also more accessible to normies, like it’s very novel that AIs are just out here tweeting, as opposed to esoteric protocols that are hard to grok. eg zerebro has gotten mentioned by popcrave, truth terminal had the pmarca connection, etc. a lot of the tech coins category are closer to VC alts that retail hates
