Not an economist so curious to get more informed takes, but my 2c on tariffs 👇

🤔 Short term: not crazy, if plan is to offset rising consumer prices by removing fed income tax. Fed gov should be able to do that w/ tariff income + cost reductions if DOGE does what it’s supposed to. 

⚖️ Long term: something has to give. Either tariffs achieve goals on drug trade / trade deficit & we’re able to roll back, or domestic industry gets competitive enough to create durable jobs and export to other markets. Worst case is sustained + escalating blanket trade war & a weak domestic industry that becomes reliant on those tariffs. Consumers getting inferior products at higher prices feels like a recipe for disaster.
