Hard agree. Few thoughts (1/2): 📰 News/discussion has always been primary use case for text-based social media. 📢 With internet, we shifted from fewer trusted sources (“MSM”) to many unvetted sources. This increased perspectives + access to info, but at the cost of accuracy / onjectivity, leading to loss of trust 📉. 🤖 These days we’re trying to scale trust via AI (I’m personally seeing replies prompting Perplexity or Grok on X 📈), but anecdotally I’m still seeing more misinformation than not on X.

I’ve crossed that threshold where I feel safer crossing the street in SF when I see a Waymo than when I see a human driver. Future is definitely here. Can’t wait for it to more evenly distribute.

Related: the legacy of DOGE comes down to the extent to which there’s bipartisan pain IMO. Only an idiot or a fraud would act as if inefficient bureaucracy is a disease unique to the Democratic Party. I know Elon is not the former. Not an economist so curious to get more informed takes, but my 2c on tariffs 👇 🤔 Short term: not crazy, if plan is to offset rising consumer prices by removing fed income tax. Fed gov should be able to do that w/ tariff income + cost reductions if DOGE does what it’s supposed to. ⚖️ Long term: something has to give. Either tariffs achieve goals on drug trade / trade deficit & we’re able to roll back, or domestic industry gets competitive enough to create durable jobs and export to other markets. Worst case is sustained + escalating blanket trade war & a weak domestic industry that becomes reliant on those tariffs. Consumers getting inferior products at higher prices feels like a recipe for disaster.

App targeted at X users to automatically archive their tweets, using FC under the hood (obv). Bootstrap by importing archive off X: https://x.com/settings/download_your_data?lang=en&mx=2. (Not sure if FC can backdate at protocol layer cc @v, @dwr.eth) Key features: search archive by date, location, keywords, topic…etc. LLMs to summarize periods (what was I tweeting about Nov 2020?) Hook ppl into FC by sending notifications from ppl “interacting w/ your archive”. Let them reply, engage, or @ mention those ppl, which shows up on FC only. Charge monthly fee as a SaaS on top of paying their FC storage fees. Be upfront if they cancel they can pay for storage themselves or let it get pruned.

Channel modeled after r/WritingPrompts, but where people can mint the forks they like with payouts going to contributors. Can add some constraints like 5 replies max per story or just let shit get crazy and use @splits to get everyone paid. Should be AI forward so ppl can use LLMs but explicitly tag [AI]. Can monetize with @hypersub or channel open for anyone.

Predictions for the next 4 yrs 🇺🇸 ⚔️ Continued rise of protectionism & nationalism (trending w/ rest of the world). 🤷‍♀️ Deregulation on domestic tech & business. 🫵 Rise of states rights on social issues. 🌱 Growth of independent parties + advocates, starting with local (ex: GrowSF, Forward Party). 🌶️🤔 Trump will surprise ppl with Supreme Court appointees. 🕰️🤞 Rebirth of Democratic party with young, bold voices from outside establishment + pulse on practical issues.
