Is it that bad downtown? Homelessness, crime, and terror by methhead is an omnipresent issue in Austin. Itâs not like downtown is âthe bad part of townâ. Itâs the part of town where you have to confront it most often because youâre in a car. When youâre not in a car you realize the scope. There is more like a thin film of disorder that covers the WHOLE city. Unlike SF where the disorder occurs on the street, and in âthe tenderloinâ a lot of the homeless in Austin LIVE IN THE WOODS, ALL OVER. Texas doesnât have a lot of public green space to begin with, and here the trails and greenbelts will have HUGE camps of people. As a nature enjoyer it has been the biggest blackpill to realize I canât explore these places or to know they are ruined by poop buckets and other things that linger even after the city remediates a site. This map is a community sourced record of all camps. Tell me where the âbadâ neighborhood is. Looks like the whole city to me. https://www.nomadik.ai/
