The more I learn about film financing, the more I’m convinced that films don’t make money. So, why am I a filmmaker again?

If you can get the production, you still collect your director fee and get paid. The production co will be borrowing the money, maybe break even after tax breaks and money goes back to the credit facility. And the cycle goes around.
