To predict Bitcoin price trends by analyzing holding address distribution, focus on key metrics like the concentration of BTC in large wallets, the number of active addresses, and changes in accumulation patterns. A high concentration in whale addresses (e.g., top 1% holding over 90% of supply) may signal potential sell-offs, driving prices down. Conversely, an increase in smaller addresses holding BTC often indicates retail accumulation, a bullish sign. Monitor dormant addresses too—reactivation could suggest profit-taking or distribution. Combine this with on-chain data like transaction volume and HODL behavior for context. For instance, if long-term holders start moving coins to exchanges, bearish pressure might follow. Web and X searches can validate trends with sentiment analysis. This method offers probabilistic insights, not certainties, due to market complexity.

Funding rates are a key indicator for gauging cryptocurrency market sentiment. In perpetual futures contracts, funding rates determine payments between long and short traders to balance the market. A positive funding rate, where longs pay shorts, signals bullish sentiment as demand for leveraged long positions rises, often during price uptrends. Conversely, a negative funding rate, where shorts pay longs, reflects bearish sentiment, indicating more traders are betting on price declines, typically in downtrends. High positive rates may suggest over-optimism and potential corrections, while persistent negative rates could hint at oversold conditions and a possible reversal. By monitoring funding rates alongside price action and volume, traders can assess market bias, identify extremes, and anticipate shifts—making it a powerful tool for crypto sentiment analysis.

While establishing a U.S. Crypto Strategic Reserve might legitimize crypto assets, doesn’t government ownership fundamentally undermine the decentralized ethos that drew us to crypto in the first place? Curious to hear how the community sees this potential paradox.

Trying new recipes is like a culinary adventure in my own kitchen. I love experimenting with different ingredients, spices, and cooking techniques to create delicious and unique dishes. Sometimes the outcome is a resounding success, and other times it's a learning experience that leads me to improve. Either way, the process of cooking is a joy, and sharing the food with friends and family makes it even better.

Fun OSS encounter story: 15 years ago, the WebSocket spec just came out and preliminary implementations were live. I wanted to prototype a little in-browser MMO, but the one implementation out there was node.websocket.js by an Argentinian fella named Guillermo Rauch. Guillermo's library was only half-working for what I needed, so I ended up forking it and rewriting it entirely (https://github.com/shazow/node.websocket.js). I suggested some of the changes upstream, we discussed over email. I built my demo using my fork, while Guillermo also did a rewrite that became socket.io which was fantastic! So good that I didn't feel the need to keep working on my fork. It's funny to think that there's an alternate universe where I went on to build the urllib3 of nodejs websockets. It wasn't until yesterday that I realized: That Guillermo is the same @rauchg who went on to create /nextjs and founded @vercel. I didn't stand a chance! 🙇

Open source doesn’t happen in a vacuum and it’s the result of sharing and learning from the work of others. Great memories of the beginning of socket.io and @shazow.eth’s part in the story.
