Vitalik’s Twitter account was hacked. The users that interacted with the malicious link lost $691,000. A lot of crypto security advice gets posted but one I rarely see is to use a security extension like Stelo or Pocket Universe. Get warned if you’re about to be drained.

We’re working on this in Brave Wallet. Coming very soon. Will be on all devices. Sad to see this continue to happen.

That’s great. Metamask has massively dropped the ball on this.

MetaMask is the quintessential first mover lazy incumbent. Just like open sea. Get dominant share being early and then just do nothing to keep improving. Pretty mediocre

Metamask is worse. Opensea has made many updates. Metamask almost none and those it does make are often scaring people for the wrong reasons. Such a poor team. I asked Joe Lublin about it and the answer was decentralisation via snaps. Metamask needs to fix these issues themselves. It’s not that hard.

We are doing a lot in this area. Things will ship soon. We already have transaction insights Snaps that can warn about malicious transactions and that’s just the start.

It should be built in for everyone. Most people aren’t going to install snaps. Same way people didn’t install extensions to protect themselves. ATM you have these scary warning signs even for legit transactions. It’s taken years for metamask to do anything substantial. Hope you guys can figure it out.
