One of the biggest Russian propaganda campaigns against Ukraine is that the country is full of Nazis. I always take time to dispel that myth. Full interview: https://youtu.be/2XSj74qsvyc?si=lGLwHozhngO4wv2j

Indeed, the 'de-nazification' lie can be hard for a lot of westerners to understand But we were never the target audience for that particular brand of disinformation. Calling on historical memories of fighting the actual Nazis in WW2 (the Great Patriotic War, which has been deeply ingrained into the national psyche) makes it easier for Putin and his regime to sell domestic audiences on the war, giving a moral license for extreme violence. Much easier for Russians to rally around that than Putin's real goals, which would be patently indefensible even for the highly apathetic domestic audiences. And it's far easier for Russians to accept that lie than the truth: that Russia is hell bent on a genocidal campaign of eradicating Ukraine as a nation and people.
