part of the conversation is about how direct casts also aren't really the ideal venue and how to correct for that

Part of me thinks channels (which seem to be deprioritized) should just be switched to default private 

That is a better approach/UI for private group conversation vs current group DCs

(I should really proofread for typos before hitting cast when using swipe typing on a tiny glass keyboard)
