The one potential upside of this "buy your allowance" is recruitment and retention. 

Starting at an allowance of 5 and getting nowhere is pretty frustrating.  I think a ton of people quit before 100.

The biggest thing we stand to gain is new quality users from Twitter that come for the degen tips and stay for the vibes at the 10k and 100k levels.

I think I could convince many more people with this pitch than the starting 5 allowance, if they tier these correctly. It's not all doom and gloom, good things can happen from this.
