gmeow, would love an invite. So I've been in crypto on the dev side since 2013, when I originally was the first core dev on Dogecoin (Billy and Jackson reached out to the r/dogecoin mods incl. me to fix some bugs/exploits found, as they weren't coders themselves) The biggest problem I had with the industry then was how easy it was to get rugged and rekt. Exchanges literally vanishing overnight, every service (like satoshi dice & knock-offs) were centralized. Lost everything to rugs and "hacks". I returned in the 16/17 bull purely because of Ethereum, and the smart contract layer. It was the actual fix to centralization. My keys, my coins, always. And that's what Ethereum is to me, beyond serving the general purposes of gamblooors and memes - it's an actual fix for centralization. Trustless compute. Used to be way more aligned with "It should have big GPUs and just be a per-second cloud computer", now I more see that as an L2 job. Ethereum is the decentralized secure layer to build the ecosystem on.
