Last cycle this was one of the biggest problems I noticed with artists.

They are great at what they do but not great at marketing themselves.

There are obviously some exceptions.

This applies to more than just artists.

What makes you want to create art is most often completely at odds with market values. Marketing is the anti-art.

Marketing also sops up some of the best aesthetic talent, then drains its energy like a leech. Eggly suggests that if you're a creative person with a marketing job, only give that job 25% of your all. The results will still be better than most advertising, but you'll have some juice left over for your own damned art
