Itโs more of a general observation about how new ideasโtechnological or otherwiseโare often received with skepticism or resistance before gaining acceptance.
Over time, people have adapted it to describe the arc of disruptive innovations, like how early critics dismissed electricity or the internet before they became unstoppable.
During my opening keynote address The Legacy Conference, I told the aspiring entrepreneurs that the creative arts are no stranger to such resistance.
From the printing press to photography, digital art, generative art, and now generative AI, weโre seeing the clash play out again. As I said in my talk, look to the 180โitโs often where the opportunities hide.
