Need a pair of shoes for my first marathon. I've been running/training on barefoots (Atreyu). Is really the Vaporfly 3 as good as its pricetag?

Vaporflys/Alphaflys (not necessarily version 3) are totally worth it IMO, and you can get great deals on eBay where a lot of stores offload their excess inventory. The Alphaflys seem to last longest and are the best bang for your buck. I wouldn't pay extra for version 3, however.

Regardless, I definitely agree with users who said you want cushioning. The lightweight cushioning of the foam is a big benefit of the VFs (probably moreso than the carbon plate), but if you do something else, definitely do something with cushioning, you will be thankful in the last 10k.
