Once free will is carefully defined, the free will vs. determinism debate resolves itself completely. We do have free will (defined as evitability or similar)[1]; we don't have free will (defined as freedom physics).

The meme that there is an unresovable conflict between free will and determinism remains sticky in culture even though it isn't widely considered a big issue in contemporary philosophy of mind. The idea that there isn't really a conflict is called compatibilism[2]; the opposite being incompatibilism.
