By "smart people," I mean those who think very quickly. They can read a book in a glance, calculate mentally with ease, and guess the next part of a conversation after hearing just half of it. It's quite difficult for such people to achieve great things. 

After becoming quick-witted, they are prone to making mistakes, tend to overlook important details, and often miss the big picture because they understand fragments quickly.
