Warmly at the end of the year, Vitalik Buterin donated 50 ETH (~170,000 USD) to Alexey Pertsev. This is a practical move to help Alexey continue his appeal after his 64-month prison sentence for his role in developing Tornado Cash. Arrested since 2022, Alexey faces charges related to laundering $1.2 billion through Tornado Cash - a crypto "mixer" that was created to protect user privacy, but has been abused for money laundering purposes. Alexey's appeal effort received great support from the community, including Vitalik. The actions of the founder of Ethereum are not only financial support but also affirming his commitment to protecting freedom and privacy - core values of blockchain.

This is the end of a winding journey between courts and political controversies that has lasted more than a year. Do Kwon's lawyers once proposed to extradite him to Korea, where the maximum sentence for financial crimes is usually 30 to 40 years. On the contrary, if he goes to America, Do Kwon risks receiving much more serious sentences. Not only is it legally complicated, Do Kwon's extradition case is also involved in a political scandal in Montenegro. The former Attorney General once accused the Prime Minister of favoring Kwon's extradition to Korea, due to his shady financial relationship with Do Kwon.

Vitalik adopted Moo Deng - a famous 4-month-old hippo at Khao Kheow Zoo (Thailand). Not only did he raise him, he also donated 10 million baht (~$280k) to the zoo where the hippo lives and plans to spend 88 ETH to continue supporting other animals here. KULR shares soared after $21M BTC deal KULR, a US-listed technology company, just made the first deal in its Bitcoin Reserve strategy by spending $21M to collect 217.18 BTC at an average price of $96,556 per coin. KULR plans to continue accumulating more BTC in the near future, and to protect assets, the company has chosen Coinbase Prime as its storage partner. KULR is a provider of energy storage solutions for the space, aviation and defense sectors. This news pushed KULR stock price on the NYSE up more than 25% when it opened today's trading session.
