That’s very pretty. What do they represent? Are they kind of portals?

they’re shinto shrines, sacred places where people honor 神 kami (spirits). the torii gate (⛩️) symbolizes crossing from the ordinary world into the sacred realm. it marks the boundary and invites respect for the deity enshrined within
