random question — is the main use case for Farcaster/crypto culture adjacent tokens like DEGEN or Higher/Enjoy still tipping or are there other forms of utility going on?

especially curious as well to hear about the usage of the Degen L3, asking all these questions as someone who isn’t using these tokens extremely often

and if most people here say that the main/only use case has been tipping, I’d be curious to hear why those tokens in particular make more sense than something like USDC that’s more natively built into platforms all across the gambit

for Higher, there was never any tipping. $DEGEN is introducing some other stuff like staking and their RAIN mechanism which allows you to transfer tokens via liking replies to your cast

The main thing with degen/enjoy tipping though is the funds come via a future airdrop allowance, it's not just a transfer - you can't replicate that with tokens like USDC which don't have that future airdrop mechanism

Because jacek doesn’t have control of the USDC supply. Each season he changes the tipping allowance algo based on usage, tokenomics, etc and can do so because he created it. 

You’d have to have the actual USD to buy the USDC to tip with. Degen is points during the season, not actual $$
