VC-backed game is about growth and speed of execution. Very few exceptions here but they exist. Bootstrapped or non-VC game is choose your own adventure. Really depends what you’re optimizing for personally.

I should add — easy enough to move from boostrapped to VC-backed if you have growth. A huge pain to convert a VC-backed company to optimizing for good lifestyle cash flow. Can be done (e.g. Gumroad), but quite messy.
