After 4+ years, I still find it strange / amusing there’s a group of people still here who somehow think Varun and I are not actually interested in building a protocol and it’s all a ruse to do a rug pull a la 2014 Twitter. If you don’t believe us, why waste your time?

That’s not to say critical feedback isn’t welcome or useful. But it’s bizarre when the default reaction to *everything* is negative / bad faith. Anyways, we’ll just keep trying to make weekly progress. Always has been the plan.

Working with Nouns I had to truly embrace the fact that some people think in those terms. No matter what the other person has done with their life they always approach everything and everyone with a bad faith lens. Seems like a bad way to live and not what I hear when I read about the great businesses and teams of the past. The core group seems to always be passionate and positive (even when they are paranoid like Andy Grove)

The industry has made people cynical, but it’s very clear that this is more than just a rug pull. This isn’t friend.tech lol

I generally see that as a positive signal - if people react, whether positively or negatively, it means they care in some way. Any reaction is better than indifference. And then there’s that rule of thumb: dissatisfied people tend to speak much louder than satisfied ones.

If people had to share those opinions in person or around their peers, they wouldn’t actually say those things.

They likely have an unfortunate amount of scar tissue from being burned by other projects - and its hard for them to see past that bias.

Often times it’s not disbelief or bad faith. I feel it’s mostly can’t be evil vs don’t be evil. If the possibility exists and the premise is decentralized protocol then one maps everything to how can this go wrong are we building a protocol. That magnifying glass is then naturally used.

I would say in defense of all of them (with good intent) that it is a normal human behaviour encoded in our dna, human dislike changes announcing changes and debating with users helps a lot with changes adoption but the first reaction is still the first reaction we are in a ecosystem that moves very fast and some changes on things that we were considered static are like removing the floor tho, you are right, one need some extra mental powers to go through this all the time, so, sorry for that, we are just a bunch of.. (insert anything)

Bruh you're going to breed a culture of bad faith for sure when you lash out at communities because of political events. Your red-baiting politically unconscious conflation of cryptoleft values with authoritarian politics that's convinced me you're unwilling to engage in productive discourse. Why would we engage in good faith with someone who calls us communists? That's crazy.

I've been really enjoying the changes and progress made in Farcaster. I wonder if the problem with what you're saying is that people are more likely to complain about what they don't like than to praise what they do like. Or if the praise isn't reaching you as strongly. Anyway, thank you for what you and the team are doing.
