The fundamental issue with consumer crypto today is lack of consumers. Consumers need interesting or entertaining content to stick around. Sign ups are irrelevant if you can’t retain them. Everything else is a marginal improvement at best.

Farcaster is probably the best consumer related crypto app I’ve ever used. What other crypto apps are this sticky with committed users? Are there any others with people spending 40+ hours a week on? I know that’s not the point you’re getting at, but I thought it was worth saying anyway. Content quality here is improving imo. Maybe not as quickly as people would like, but it’s definitely happening.

We haven’t figured out a repeatable growth motion for finding power users that stick around.

I’m hopeful that as more creators realize what’s possible here, we’ll continue seeing more of them show up. Being able to “own” your creative space is a huge benefit that I don’t think many people realize is even possible yet. It’s just a matter of spreading the word. Have yall ever considered/tried some sort of recruitment program for creators? “Come to Farcaster and after X amount of days or X criteria are met, you receive a reward”?

I don't think it's an easy problem to solve. Even the massive platforms are having problems with user retention and getting enough varied content to draw in those outside the crypto-curious bubble is going to take time. It's not something you can easily market for - tipping tokens and moxie are great for monetization right now, but long-term sustainability is still questionable and for creators to start from scratch building an audience, they need more certainty of income potential, unless they're so fed up with traditional social they make their way here after a friend mentions the place in a newsletter... but that's a slow way to grow.

Might eventually have to pay content providers. The shitcoin purveyors have been doing that lift for Warpcast, but it’s like VC subsidies for Uber. Eventually Uber had to pay drivers. Farcaster got $100,000,000. Should see itself as a network, curate and pay talent.

Probably need to start paying high signal users like X does, beyond 3rd party token schemes

There are lack of big communities here outside the crypto content, even though I find it an interesting place to grow community and this feeling of being early gives motivation, but not feeling any help with that! Even those who come for crypto may face the problem of timing between their countries and other's countries. Yes you find channels you make friends, but building community is different.
