The price of a crypto asset matters if you own it already. It doesn't matter if you don't own it. It's downstream of market cap.

if they moved 1:1, I'd agree. but market cap doesn't evolve the same way a token price does, so it can't be a substitute both should be there, one acts as a buy reference point, the other an understanding of potential upside

the market cap can go up 20%, while the price doesn't move it's not a substitute if I buy the token at $1, I understand that if it goes to $2 I will have doubled my money, but can't say the same thing as market cap
