The prevailing narrative until yesterday was Farcaster needs to grow faster / be more aggressive with DAU growth. Gave invites to Active Badge holders only and now the feedback is feed quality is bad. We will solve for the near term this week but good reminder permissionless will bring new challenges. :)

“Just selectively target high quality groups” That was the original onboarding strategy and resulted in a ton of churn. The retained active users on Farcasters aren’t from a single community. More a similar profile: people creating new things, optimistic and civil, interested in Ethereum.

“Onboarding is too difficult” Sign ups on Warpcast finish at 90% rate, 60% Week 1 retention. Can it be improved? Yes! We have a bunch of improvement coming before mainnet to make it simpler, further abstract crypto complexity. Primary issue for Farcaster is retaining active EVM builders vs. Twitter.

So which of these two is your ideal outcome: decentralized Twitter or Twitter for crypto builders?

Maybe it’s kind of like what Solana (the chain) did - they tried very hard to convert EVM builders, but found their real success with new Solana native projects (who might have had founders with EVM roots) My guess is Farcaster’s most successful accounts will be Farcaster native, not transplants
