What's the incentive for people to pay for a server and maintain a hub?

Access to the data. I suspect people think there will be some future reward for running one despite having told me people there won't be (since there's no easy way to validate you were running a Hub correctly, all the data was there, it was performant).

Thoughts about having people pay the Farcaster network to run a hub? Something like a registration fee. Clearly they are getting value out of this. It might also help reduce the number of hubs

I can imagine some people might hope for reward because of this sentence in Farcaster docs

I don't know whether "Data is the New Gold" still applies for a sufficiently DeSoc like /warpcast? Hopefully we don't see another Cambridge Anaytica in the making, a lot of us Warpcasters have lost our hard-earned money to the scammers here, so hopefully together we can prevent more of these unwanted incidents from happening in the future... π«Άπ https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/data-visualizations/data-spotlight/2022/01/social-media-gold-mine-scammers-2021
