Gatekeeping channels is probably the worth idea that has been implemented on this platform.

It is not really clear how it works. Like i was going to post in economics but can't since I suppose I'm not a member. I thought I couldn't post in Warpcast cause I'm not a member either but apparently I can? It all feels pretty confusing to be honest. I also think gatekeeping fosters echo chambers.

What was the goal of casting in /economics? There's no distribution boost for casting in channels anymore. That topic / hashtag style approach we tried for a year didn't work. So we moved channels to a new model that are focused on smaller communities. And casting outside of a channel in your home feed gives the maximum amount of distribution.

I didn't know the distribution boost disappeared. I simply wanted to post a YouTube video in the relevant channel, instead I posted it in /screens So I guess I should now post on my own feed instead.

Can you clarify this? Is it best not to cast into channels anymore? Iā€™m still struggling with how to use the new model. I had some channels I narrowcasted into on purpose and I use them way less now because they are too niche. But there are some channels Iā€™d still like to see grow but is it best to talk about the channel but not cast there for the best distribution?
