Gatekeeping channels is probably the worth idea that has been implemented on this platform.

It is not really clear how it works. Like i was going to post in economics but can't since I suppose I'm not a member. I thought I couldn't post in Warpcast cause I'm not a member either but apparently I can? It all feels pretty confusing to be honest. I also think gatekeeping fosters echo chambers.

What was the goal of casting in /economics? There's no distribution boost for casting in channels anymore. That topic / hashtag style approach we tried for a year didn't work. So we moved channels to a new model that are focused on smaller communities. And casting outside of a channel in your home feed gives the maximum amount of distribution.

I didn't know the distribution boost disappeared. I simply wanted to post a YouTube video in the relevant channel, instead I posted it in /screens So I guess I should now post on my own feed instead.

Can you clarify this? Is it best not to cast into channels anymore? Iām still struggling with how to use the new model. I had some channels I narrowcasted into on purpose and I use them way less now because they are too niche. But there are some channels Iād still like to see grow but is it best to talk about the channel but not cast there for the best distribution?
